Her training under COMT (Clinical Orthopedic Manual Therapy with Joe Muscolino DC), David Graston and FATKR has taught her fundamentals to increase range of motion and decrease pain in as little as 1-4 sessions. Some clients that are chronic may receive more sessions as every case is different.
Are you unable to turn your head to one side making it difficult to drive? Unable to sleep at night? When Shannon has a cervical or neck case, she works on all muscles affected with SASTM (sound assisted soft tissue mobilization) and/or FAKTR (functional and kinetic treatment with rehabilitation). She is able to use a combination of tools. She uses all types of stretching, including static & PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) to increase function.
Shannon's work is much preferred by her clients because it feels good and may be just as effective, yet gentler than a chiropractic thrust.
If you have neck pain or you cannot sleep at night due to pain, you might want to book a session with her, her clients tell her she is Amazing!
Once the muscles are functioning properly, the client is now ready to rehabilitate with an exercise program to improve strength gains.
Shannon’s medical massage includes an orthopedic approach. She uses many tools to break up adhesions, trigger points and helps to increase mobility in the body. She studied the COMT program, a 7 part clinical therapeutic type of massage.
FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation) & SASTM (Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) are specialized trainings to break up adhesions and release stuck tissue. Add in PNF, static or pin and stretch techniques to help bring the muscle back to length and increase function.
Once the muscles are functioning properly, the client is now ready to rehabilitate with exercise to gain strength and added mobility.
For those clients that prefer to remain fully clothed, Shannon offers Thai massage which is also very effective. Compressions bring blood flow to the muscles and the client is stretched throughout the massage.
