Coach Harvey
Wood Crew
Harvey started with Shannon and has over 30 years of training in Timber Sports. Since he works for an Arborist, Arbor Services of CT, he helps supply the local Timber Teams with white pine logs. Harvey competes at local CT fairs.
Coach Shannon
CT Regional Timber Team Coach
Shannon enjoys working with all the local school to give every team a chance to train and compete. She feels the love of the sport needs to be shared and high school level was a perfect fit for her in CT. A former world champion and her background with her work is a great fit for local teams.
Coach Ann
Ann got her start after working with Shannon and meeting her personal goals. A former athlete, she decided to give Timber sports a try and volunteers her organizational skills and work with the kids at Wamogo.

Phil and his family fell in love with the sport as he watched his kids compete at Wamogo and college level. His daughter Melissa trains to be a future world champion. Phil continues to support Wamogo and trains the team in the spring and fall seasons.

Shannon began her career as a lumber jill under the guidance of her father, former Mr Connecticut, Cal Strong. She learned how to throw an axe at the age of 11 years old and later went on to take the sport more seriously in her 20's and 30's. She traveled the country working for Timber Tina's World Champion Lumberjills and competed locally and abroad. She broke world records in the underhand chop and won many overall titles.
In 1992 she appeared in the National Enquirer, on the David Letterman show, Current Affair, Oxygen network, CBS News and many local newspapers and radio.
Today Shannon travels less and enjoys teaching local high school level teams. The Wamogo Timber Team was formed in 2010 and later, the Woodland Timber Team in 2016. In 2017 the 2 teams competed together in the first ever Axe Games held at Woodland High School and Timberlympics at Wamogo.
Shannon has high hopes to form additional teams in CT in the near future and provide Sport Specific Training to young athletes.
